Here is STORY sad but TRUE about a student...

This is a true story about a friend of mine's son who is a Junior in College.  He has lived on campus the last three years and in addition to federal loans received private loans under his own signature.  Due to a divorce situation, Mom is not in a position to co-sign and was denied a PLUS loan.  Now as he gets ready for his senior year, they are in a panic.  The loan that they got the last three years is no longer offered by that lender.  I don't know of a loan program for a student who is 20 and not working to get a private loan without a co-signor.  The only option may be Grandfather who is on a fixed income.  The family is looking at having him transfer to a school close to home, move home, get a job and go part time.  He is committed to graduate but THEY are really concerned about how to pay for the final 2 years.  I wonder how many other families are in a similar position due to credit problems and no home or mortgage is now upside down.  Anyone out there have any solutions?

Has he searched for other lenders that might still offer the same kind of loan that his previous lender stopped doing?

Yes, he has searched long and hard for a loan under his own signature as an undergraduate student.  He does not have a credit worthy comaker.  Let me know if you have a solution.
