.
I am involved with helping my daughter, Allie choose the best college. This is my youngest child. My oldest went to a state school and after three majors and five years graduated and is now seeking a real career. For the youngest we are spending more time because with her resume, she should get an offer from the right school. I want her to take her time and choose the right school.
I am going to host this blog to share our trials and successes.
We will be doing campus visits, filling our admission and financial aid forms and she will be selecting the right major. I don’t want to be a “helicopter” parent but plan to be more active than with the oldest who always knew she wanted to go to State U. We were lucky that for my oldest daughter we were able to pay for much of college out of cash flow with only a couple of private student loans.
Unfortunately like so many families we are now several years older, have less in income and cash flow. So the experience is very different—just like each of our children.
I have spent the last few weeks searching the web on one computer, while my daughter is on another. I am seeking information and the secret answer to the best college—she is on blogs etc. I have been frustrated that on many sites where I am looking for scholarships, major information, they only want to sell me a loan.
I am going to share this journey with you and hope to provide some guidance to those who have this coming for their children.
Of course I am open to any successful parents. My daughter is posting her own blog on this site—should be interesting to see how we look at life from different perspectives.
I plan on being on this everyday since this is a very important decision for the “baby” and she is the nice one. With being the youngest, I want to also enjoy her final year plus in high school.
This will be a public journal as Allie and I travel this path from our own point of view.
Please join me, I will answer any questions and share my experiences
